Hello, fellow quilting enthusiasts!

I am thrilled to share an update on my Floret Quilt project and give you a sneak peek into some additional WIPs I have started working on. Any links I have put in are for your reference only, I do not receive anything if you click on them.

Progress on the Floret Quilt: First, let me say this is a beginner-friendly pattern I purchased at Fat Quarter Shop. The quilt came together quickly and is the perfect size for a baby quilt.

  • Fabric Selection: The fabrics I selected for this quilt are 1) Grunge Basics in Pool by Basic Grey for Moda for the background, 2) Art Gallery Fabric in a cream and yellow print from my stash for the accent fabric, and 3) four fat quarters from Stacey Iest Hsu's Jungle Paradise for Moda Fabrics in purple and orange for the blocks.

  • Quilt Top: There are only four blocks in this pattern, and they came together so quickly that before I knew it the entire quilt top was finished! I only spent 6.5 hours making the quilt top. I did make a mistake on one of the blocks that needed to be corrected but overall it was fun and easy!

  • Backing: For the backing on this quilt, I wanted to use as much of the fabric from the quilt top as possible to reduce any waste. I took the leftover fabric from cutting and the corners that were cut while making the blocks and I am working on a pieced backing that I hope to have soon.

  • Quilting: I plan on quilting this on my longarm but need to finish the quilt I have loaded first! I haven't decided on the design or what I will do for binding yet.

  • Timeline: I have set a deadline for completing the Floret Quilt (including quilting and binding) by January 20, 2025. I'm on track to finish the quilt by this deadline, barring any unforeseen challenges.

New-ish Projects:

  • Strawberry Garden Block of the Month: This is a BOM from Fat Quarter Shop and Fig Tree & Co. Fabrics. It started in August 2024. You do need to have purchased the book to participate. I never really got started on this because it launched at the same time I got sick with COVID-19, but now that I'm sewing again, I can't wait to update you all on my progress!

  • Christmas Figs Sampler Quilt: This is from Joanna Figueroa of Fig Tree & Co.'s Christmas Figs book. I started and stopped this several times, but I am determined that I will complete it by June 2025.

  • Dragon Fruit Block of the Month: This is another BOM from Fat Quarter Shop using Tula Pink fabrics. This is another BOM that started while I was down with COVID-19, so I only have the first month of blocks completed.

Thank you for following along on my quilting journey! Your support and enthusiasm mean the world to me. Let's continue to create, inspire, and share the joy of quilting together.

Happy quilting!

Kae
